Program

As part of the tourist and economic development of the Piau-Engaly ski resort, construction of a 4* communal tourist residence with 30 flats.

Built in the 1980s, the Piau-Engaly ski resort, the highest in the Pyrenees, is remarkable for its urban form and its architecture. The project is part of a global requalification of the ski resort.

Composed of a single volume, the building evolves along the length of the plot defined in continuity with the existing building, of which it respects the scale and gauge. The forecourt extends the public space at the foot of the residence. Large terraces accompany the curvature of the project. 30 flats are proposed on four floors. All the sleeping areas are naturally lit thanks to the use of glass partitions.

The facades are composed of stainless steel strips that turn around to cover the edges of the terraces and the roofs. The recessed facades are treated with vertical wood cladding in a natural colour. The low walls that delimit the parking spaces are clad in local stone.

Its shape and location are the result of a committed architectural concept, respectful of the exceptional site that the Pyrenees National Park represents.
