Extension of the headquarters of a public institution through the conversion of one of its buildings into office space
The project aims to renovate a former 19th-century theatre, to accommodate offices. The program includes partial demolition and restructuring of the roof, renovation of the historic façade and the building’s interior, as well as the addition of a remarkable atrium at the center of the structure.
The intervention is based on three main approaches:
- Enhancing the historic façades by preserving as much of the original material and notable elements as possible: stone façades, slate roofs, sculpted decorations, and dormer windows.
- Streamlining the roof by partially demolishing and restructuring it to eliminate irregularities.
- Modernizing the building to meet its new use by improving thermal performance, safety, and accessibility.
In the basement, there will be meeting rooms and multi-purpose spaces, while the ground floor will host videoconferencing lounges. The upper floors will be dedicated to office spaces. At the heart of the building, a large atrium will bring natural light to all levels.
