Extension and construction of an office building
Built on the Evergreen Montrouge site, on the site of the former Schlumberger factories, the Lumen building offers its occupants pleasant workspaces that are open to the city and the greenery, particularly well connected to the existing buildings, and in perfect harmony with all the buildings on the site.
It was very important to preserve the industrial memory of the site, which is why, although it is completely contemporary and meets the requirements of tertiary spaces, Lumen takes up some of the formal codes of industrial architecture: emphasis on metal and exposed structures.
Lumen matches the height of existing buildings. In addition, inspired by the structural elements of the Aqua building, the vertical metal spines, pierced by oblong holes, and the horizontal white lines, give rhythm to the façade, making it part of an overall continuity. A colour scheme, with muted, natural tones, was also drawn up to reinforce a common style and unify the façades.
The U-shaped layout of the building was dictated by the urban project: Lumen is open to the city, facing Avenue Jean Jaurès. There is a real continuity of vegetation between the public and private spaces, and every point of the building is connected to the urban environment.
