Construction of the headquarters of the Nord Pas-de-Calais Region (now Hauts-de-France).
In 1999, the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region decided to set up its headquarters on the former site of the exhibition centre, in the Euralille 2 sector, bringing together the offices then spread over twelve different sites.
The work is being carried out in two phases and will take eight years to complete. The site of the new regional headquarters is characterised by the multiplication of the road equipment surrounding it and by the scale of the neighbouring buildings. These elements determined the architectural choice: a simple and unitary building, marked by verticality and very present glass elements. Thus, the transparency of the reception and distribution areas reinforces the desired link between the Hôtel de Région and the city. The height of the building was deliberately kept on a human scale, inspired by the Grand Palais in Lille nearby.
The entire site, spread over four levels, is certified HQE (high environmental quality). The patios encourage natural light and the greening of the spaces. Particular attention has been paid to the choice of materials, especially the origin of the wood used (oak with the European PEFC label, from sustainably managed forests).
