Program

Extension of the headquarters of the Banque de France through the conversion of one of its buildings into office space

The project aims to renovate the Ventadour building, a former 19th-century theatre, to accommodate offices for the Banque de France. The program includes partial demolition and restructuring of the roof, renovation of the historic façade and the building’s interior, as well as the addition of a remarkable atrium at the center of the structure.

The intervention is based on three main approaches:

  • Enhancing the historic façades by preserving as much of the original material and notable elements as possible: stone façades, slate roofs, sculpted decorations, and dormer windows.
  • Streamlining the roof by partially demolishing and restructuring it to eliminate irregularities.
  • Modernizing the building to meet its new use by improving thermal performance, safety, and accessibility.

In the basement, there will be meeting rooms and multi-purpose spaces, while the ground floor will host videoconferencing lounges. The upper floors will be dedicated to office spaces. At the heart of the building, a large atrium will bring natural light to all levels.
