Program

Construction of the new Professional Training School for the Bar of the Paris Court of Appeal.

The new School of Professional Education for the Bar of the Paris Court of Appeal of Paris, a private higher education institution, is the largest of the eleven Regional Centres for Professional Training of Lawyers (RCPTL).

The architecture of the building emphasises the volumetric simplicity dictated by the land in order to highlight the writing of the façades. On the upper floors, the latter integrate wooden slats behind simple glazing in order to increase their visibility by softening the reflections and a dynamic play of light and shadow. The “highlight” of the project is the three-storey reception hall, where the wooden slats are detached from the facades to curve freely within the volume. This composition of wood acts as a veil that undulates according to the spaces it envelops.

The ground floor offers a spectacular hall, generously open on three levels and hosting an amphitheatre seating approximately 360 people. It is overlooked by two mezzanines and their balconies. A central core composed of a battery of five lifts and a naturally lit staircase to the south irrigates all six levels accessible to the public.
