Programme

Creation of a hotel complex at Porte-de-Versailles. To the south, the Mama Shelter: 10 floors with 200 rooms, a bar on the roof terrace, a meeting centre and a restaurant on the ground floor. To the north: Novotel: 9 floors with 246 rooms, a bar on the roof terrace, a restaurant and shops on the ground floor (260 sits).

The Porte-de-Versailles hotel complex is located in the park of the Versailles Exhibition Centre. It is composed of two units: the Mama Shelter to the south and the Novotel to the north.

The volumetry, the composition of the facades and the materials chosen for each of the buildings have been developed in conjunction with each other, in order to create a harmonious hotel complex. The “horizontal” volumes of the southern hotel are mirrored in the “vertical” volumes of the northern hotel, allowing a variety of architectural elements to be articulated along the length of a common base almost 200 metres long.

The Mama Shelter includes a roof terrace, a strong signal visible from the ring road and the surrounding area. It extends beyond the body of the building and is enhanced at night by careful lighting. The Novotel features a large 3-storey cantilevered volume on the north and south sides of the hotel. The volumetric composition of the project is emphasised by a change in the colour and direction of the brickwork.
