Construction of a building including laboratories, an animal house and offices for the Brain and Spinal Cord Institute in Paris.
The Brain and Spinal Cord Institute is a research institute designed to host public and private research teams. It is located in the very heart of the hospital where neurology was born.
The programme includes laboratories, patient areas, a human imaging area, meeting spaces and a business incubator. A concrete post-and-beam structure provides flexibility to the building. The largely glazed facades provide natural lighting. The first two levels are made up of a curtain wall of clear tinted glass. The four levels of modular laboratories are clad with a façade of glazed elements. The facades of the central building are made of a classic curtain wall.
The laboratory floors are located on the upper floors with a slight overhang on the other levels to express and highlight the Institute’s main activity. The second floor also houses the business incubator, the cell imaging platform and a logistics area. On the first floor, we find the spaces dedicated to patients, consultations and clinical investigations.
