Program

In the Gangnam district, construction of a new auction hall for Seoul Auction including a lobby, event and exhibition areas, a restaurant, a shop, a private area and a car park.

At 43m high with eight floors and five basement levels, the architecture of the Seoul Auction Gangnam Center stands out from other buildings in the area by its verticality.

The Seoul Auction Gangnam Center was built with a steel structure. To complete the metal body, the building’s facades are clad with aluminium plates painted in a special “brilliant tint copper” colour. This choice of construction made it possible to carry out a site in a very short time thanks to the prefabrication of certain elements of the structure in the workshop. It also allowed us to include the project in a sustainable development approach, as steel is a material that can be easily dismantled and recycled after the building’s demolition. Steel is also a very resistant material, particularly in the event of an earthquake, as it is capable of undergoing significant deformation before breaking. Finally, it offers excellent acoustic and thermal insulation, a recurring problem when designing a building for the public in order to offer optimal comfort to users.
