Construction of a cultural complex with 7 cinemas, one of which has a large capacity, a space for pop-stores, a brasserie, a lounge bar and a panoramic restaurant.
The building offers an architecture that is both contemporary and respectful of the visual identity of the district that it revitalises, while at the same time being fully integrated into its urban, cultural and commercial fabric.
The ground floor is a fully glazed base. It houses the main hall and the brasserie. The transparency of the atrium on the south and north facades creates a real visual connection between the two main streets. Between the first and third levels, the façade is composed of large vertical concrete elements. The fourth and last level is set back and largely glazed to accommodate the restaurant’s panoramic terrace. The roof is designed as a folded structure that crowns the building with lightness and originality.
As the cinema rooms require very little light, the facade is largely opaque. A window on the city opens up on the east side onto the Place Léon Blum, to light the lounge bar and dialogue with the church. On the Canebière side, a window illuminates the atrium on all levels and creates an event in the façade by crossing the building.
