Program

Extension of the Mamilla 5*, adding 19 suites to obtain the “Palace Distinction”

Wilmotte & Associés was commissioned to design the extension of the Mamilla 5*, with the creation of 19 suites within a former fortified building adjacent to the palace, just steps from Jaffa Gate. An aesthetic both monastic and refined—a Mediterranean minimalism where monumentality, comfort and serenity come together.

The project is based on the elevation of a listed building. Two new floors have been added, designed in the typical Jerusalem style.

In places, the remarkable volumes of the former fortified building contain splendid vaulted ceilings that shape the spatial organization. To preserve the integrity of these vaults, the architects devised subtle solutions.

Materials were chosen for their authenticity and simplicity: Jerusalem stone on the floor, rubbed plaster in greige tones, natural brushed oak, and patinated bronze joinery. The lighting, soft and indirect, caresses the walls and enhances the gentle majesty of the place.
