In 1986, for the gardens of the Palais-Royal in Paris, the Ministry of Culture launched a consultation to design a garden chair.

Jean-Michel Wilmotte has seized on the technique of burl wire and taken up the challenge, in homage to the traditional chair. The wire is shaped into a continuous flexible line that sometimes doubles to reinforce the structure. The perforated metal sheeting of the seat and back reinforces the idea of lightness. The slightly curved back leg gives the impression of greater stability.
