Grand Palais Ephemere

Architecture

Cultural spaces

Designed by Wilmotte & Associés Architectes, the Grand Palais Ephémère is a temporary, modular and reusable 10,000 sqm building on the Champ-de Mars in Paris. Designed to make up for the closure of the Grand Palais during its renovation, it has been hosting the major cultural and sporting events usually held in the nave of the historic building since May 2021, and will also host the judo and wrestling events during the 2024 Olympic Games.

This book puts the building into perspective with this historical heritage as well as with that of ephemeral architecture. But above all, it allows us to discover what went on behind the scenes of this extraordinary project. What was the genesis of the project? How did the construction work proceed? How was it received by the public? The book, which includes a comprehensive set of plans, looks back at the main architectural features of the Grand Palais Ephemere.
