Renovation of the Hotel Le Lutetia.
The Hotel Le Lutétia built in 1910 by the architects Louis-Hippolyte Boileau and Henri Tauzin is a remarkable and very homogeneous building. The main facade (rue de Sèvres and boulevard Raspail) is made of ashlar and decorated with sculptures of vines and trellises.
Wilmotte & Associés wanted to revive the spirit and strength of the original 1910 project. To revive the splendour and make the Lutetia a 21st century hotel according to the hotel chain’s criteria, the Art Deco and Art Nouveau architectural elements of the past are combined with contemporary design. The Borghese Lounge has been transformed into a Jazz Club, while an adjoining library hosts the literary and artistic gatherings so dear to the hotel. The beauty of the historic parts blends perfectly with the new surroundings.
The two main circulation axes, that of the entrance and that of the gallery, have been enhanced: the hotel lobby becomes the true functional heart of the establishment, and the gallery fully recovers its primary vocation: to irrigate all the public spaces of the Lutétia. Improving the internal functioning of the hotel was one of the priorities of this renovation.
The principle of room distribution on all levels, except level 7, remains unchanged but the number of keys has been reduced from 230 to 184 to meet the requirements of today’s large hotel, which demands larger rooms and more suites. A 700 m² spa, also open to outside guests, has been created. It also has a fitness centre and a swimming pool. To create this space, the former “Pompeian” lounge on the ground floor, whose low floor has been demolished, has been combined with the southern part of level -1.
The materials were chosen with precision: Statuario altissimo marble for all the bedrooms’ bathrooms and Calacatta Oro marble for the spa, which is treated in a honed or bush-hammered manner.
