Program

Set design for the "Tutto Ponti, Gio Ponti archi-designer" exhibition at the Musée des Arts décoratifs in Paris.

The exhibition at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris features over 400 pieces, some of which have never left their place of origin, tracing Gio Ponti's multidisciplinary career from architecture to furniture and fittings for private homes and public buildings.

The exhibition is structured around three main areas: the central nave and the two side galleries, Tuileries and Rivoli, on either side of the space. An evocation of the Cathedral of Taranto, a late masterpiece of his work, introduces the tour, which then unfolds in three sections: the object, the furniture and the architecture. The scenography of the central nave, the backbone of the exhibition, draws a parallel between Gio Ponti’s biography and his involvement with the magazine Domus, the most iconic furniture and architectural projects created over 70 years, and a complete architectural thread of his achievements.

Finally, six period-rooms on the rue de Rivoli side of the exhibition complete the tour, with spectacular reconstructions highlighting the global aspect of his work. These six environments have been designed for each decade to showcase his creations, and demonstrate the sensitivity and creativity of an extraordinary artist.
