On June 4, 2026, marking the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations between France and South Korea, the Hanwha Foundation of Culture and Centre Pompidou inaugurated the Centre Pompidou Hanwha in the heart of Yeouido, Seoul.
The artistic journey that began in Paris thus continues in the heart of the Korean capital, through the architectural intervention of Wilmotte & Associés: the renovation of a 12,000 m² site spanning five levels, at the foot of the iconic 63 Tower.
A true “box of light”, the building is distinguished by a double-skin façade composed of large curved panels of translucent laminated glass. Evoking the delicate veil of morning mist, this undulating envelope appears by day like a cloud resting at the foot of 63 Tower. At nightfall, subtly backlit, it transforms into an urban beacon visible from the Han River.
With the Centre Pompidou Hanwha, Wilmotte & Associés is proud to contribute to the creation of a new cultural landmark, bringing together Korea, France and the international art scene.
