Wilmotte & Associés Architectes won the design competition for the future Théâtre de l'Olivier in Istres. The existing theater has been completely rethought in terms of architecture, program and landscape, and will be demolished and rebuilt.

We wanted the project to blend elegantly into this urban fabric on the edge of the old town, and also to become an attractive architectural object for visitors. Symbolically, the project is divided into two parts: the southern half of the building reserved for the public, and the northern half for staff and artists. The auditorium is at the center of the project, linking the two.

The future theater takes shape in an organic form with gentle curves. This movement softens the new building frontage on Avenue Leon Blum and allows fluid circulation around the building. Facade materials are concrete and glass.
