From Halle Freyssinet to Station F

Architecture

This book retraces the transformation of the Freyssinet Hall, an exceptional building built by Eugène Freyssinet in 1929 for the Orléans messenger company, capable of housing entire goods trains within its walls. In 2017, thanks to the initiative of Xavier Niel, this hall was revived to house the largest start-up campus in the world: Station F.

To achieve this, it was necessary to completely rethink the building in order to adapt it to its new functions while respecting the spirit of its design. A rehabilitation – directed by Jean-Michel Wilmotte – that calls on the most innovative techniques, a regeneration that links history and modernity, heritage and new technologies.
